With a distinguished career in internet policy, child protection and communications, Andrew will bring visionary leadership and expertise to Internet Matters in its mission to empower families to navigate the digital world safely.
Andrew brings over 20 years of leadership experience in digital policy and online safety to the role. As the former Chair of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), he led efforts to remove harmful online content and played a key role in shaping the UK Online Safety Bill. Andrew’s understanding of the online safety world and focus on prevention strategies, aligns with Internet Matters’ mission to protect children through education, awareness, and policy advocacy.
Founded in 2014 by BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media O2, Internet Matters is a leading online safety organisation dedicated to helping children enjoy the benefits of the internet while staying protected from harm. Through robust research, innovative content, awareness campaigns and advocacy, Internet Matters is working towards a digital future where children and young people can thrive safely.
Internet Matters’ trusted expertise in children’s online safety will be bolstered by Andrew’s knowledge and experience navigating complex regulatory landscapes. Through Global Partners & Associates Ltd – the internet policy consultancy he founded in 2004 – Andrew has consulted on several projects, including developing international guidelines for content regulation online for UNESCO. He has also served as the Deputy Chair of the Sigrid Rausing Trust since 2014.
Andrew will support Internet Matters in advancing its strategic plan, driving cross-sector collaboration and advocating for comprehensive policies to help create safer digital spaces.
